Strathpeffer Nature Restoration Group is a new group formed in 2026, in response to folk identifying the need in the community consultation held in 2025. We are part of Strathpeffer Community Development Trust.
We know how lucky we are to stay in Strathpeffer with its wonderful nature, range of habitats and with many folk who care about our environment. Yet we also know that we are in a nature crisis, with less insects such as bees and butterflies, less tadpoles, less mushrooms, fewer hedgehogs, and quieter forests. Older folk might remember more vibrant nature in the past. Nature depletion has been happening with each successive generation so it's difficult to appreciate just how much we have lost.
Our aim is to restore our soils and waterways, see more native flowers, shrubs, mosses, ferns, fungi and trees of all ages to give life to more of the 'little creatures', such as insects and amphibians.
We know from the community action plan consultation that there are many folk who care about nature in Strathpeffer so as a new group, we are reaching out to find out what is being done and to build on opportunities for doing more.
