It has been some time since last I wrote to you all about the development of the Strathpeffer Community Action Plan. As you will know, the Plan was published last year and included a number of recommendations or actions. Two of those actions were to bring together the work of many of the groups in the village and to create a Development Trust under which we could all work together to the benefit of the local community. I am pleased to say that we have been making some progress on these two actions and I can now update you as follows:
On the creation of a Development Trust, the Strathpeffer Community Association who own and manage the Community Centre, has agreed to its company being used to form the Development Trust for the village. This will involve the Articles of Association of the company being amended to include the establishment and operation of a Development Trust. This process is likely to take some months to complete as approvals are required from bodies such as the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) and Companies House. As matters progress, further updates will be posted on the village website – www.strathpeffer.org.
We have also set up an informal group made up of representatives of a number of the different groups in the village. These include:
- The Strathpeffer Residents’ Association who are promoting the new play park
- The Museum of Childhood,
- The Pavilion group who have now taken on ownership of the Pavilion and gardens,
- The Community Council,
- The Golf Club,
- The St Anne’s Church, and
- The Strathpeffer Community Association (mentioned above).
This group has been created under the banner of “Strathpeffer Together” and its purpose is to seek funding through the Heritage Lottery Fund for various capital projects in the village. We would like to tell you more about these projects and get your views on them. To that end, we would like you to join us on a Zoom video meeting which will be held on Thursday 15 October at 7:30pm. At this meeting we will give a short presentation on our proposals and give you the opportunity to ask questions.
I will send you further details on how to join this Zoom call nearer to the date but in the meantime, I would be grateful if you would respond confirming whether or not you will be able to join the meeting.
I look forward to hearing from you.
