Strathpeffer – August 1934

I got sent another image of Strathpeffer from a lady whose grandfather’s band was photographed in August 1934, when the world looked a better place, and people were just starting to put the Great War behind them, little did they know what lie ahead of them. According to notes on the back the photos, the band members were (l to r): [unknown piper], Jack, Toni, Arthur Greig (‘Arty’), [unknown woman], and Harry. This is a very long-shot being 87 years ago, but if you can shed any light into the unknown people in this group of people, or have similar old pictures of the village that I don’t already have please let me know. I reckon that someone may recognise the unknown piper because I believe he was a bit of a village celebrity back in the day. It looks like this particular photograph was taken on top of the steps to the Spa Pavillion looking back across the road to the Highland Hotel. I have now added it to the archive of old images.
