ABOUT THE SHOW

This Autumn, we’re thrilled to be bringing live performance back to smaller venues around Scotland in our first in-person Opera Highlights tour for nearly two years.

Spend an evening revelling in the ups and downs of some of opera’s greatest love stories – as we celebrate the passion, joy, silliness, sadness and heartbreak of all that it means to be in love.

Directed by Jeanne Pansard-Besson, with music selected by Head of Music Derek Clark, this hour-long show is full of fun and bittersweet comedy and features a programme of much-loved classics from CarmenDon Giovanni and Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette, alongside gems you may well be discovering for the first time. The exceptional young cast includes the first appearance of Scottish Opera 2021/22 Emerging Artists Lea Shaw (mezzo-soprano) and Glen Cunningham (tenor), alongside soprano Meinir Wyn Roberts and baritone Alexey Gusev. Scottish Opera repetiteur Fiona MacSherry leads all from the piano.
