Mackays Hotel up for auction

Mackays Hotel is up for sale. The auction for it takes place on the 24th of March, and the opening bid stands at £415,000, which sounds like a bit of a bargain at this price should they create six flats out of the Travelodge at the back. I hadn’t realised that the site had contained not one but two hotels, but the Spa Lodge Hotel is not part of this deal. The hotel itself dates back to 1869 and was originally known as the Temperance Hotel (thanks Arthur), which must have been such a jolly place to stay at that Caberfeigh House turned into a bar next door. Although the hotel lies in the Strathpeffer conservation area, I have no idea if the building itself is listed in it’s own right, which would make it a very expensive building to renovate. And renovate into what? another hotel or private dwelling?

PRIME LEISURE INVESTMENT in the stunning Highland village of Strathpeffer. Former Mackays Hotel offered with vacant possession giving opportunity for trade as a hotel or for residential development.

41 En-Suite guest rooms set across the Main Hotel, the extension and Travel Lodge. Public areas include large car park, Main Reception with Lounge, L-Shaped Dining Room with bar and conservatory. Located to the rear is a leisure suite with separate entrance for public access featuring swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and exercise room.

POTENTIAL TO SPLIT THE SITE FOR DEVELOPMENT. The facility traded successfully for a number of years as a popular coaching hotel. SUPER SIZED PROPERTY OFFERING POTENTIAL FOR RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT. Offered with full vacant possession. Potential for residential development with conversion of ‘Travel Lodge’ to create 6 individual dwellings. Realistic completed value of over £900,000 for this development alone (Subject to planning).
