As anticipated, yet another local hotel has succumbed to the financial pressures due to the collapse in tourism brought about by the COVID-19 lock down this spring. This time it’s the Bay Highland Hotel owned by the Specialist Leisure Group so know more large white coaches in the village from now on. Coupled with this news are reports in the media that the Strathpeffer Hotel is also up for sale. With the demise of McKay’s Hotel back in March that just leaves just the Ben Wyvis Hotel standing – how long will that be the case is anyone’s guess. That’s quite a long winded headline in the Ross-shire Journal and the story doesn’t really convey the impact that these closures will mean for the village itself.
