Dullest Autumn on record

I probably don’t need to tell you that meteorological Autumn 2021 was the dullest since records began in 1919 across the north of Scotland. Looking on the bright side, those cloudy skies meant there were only five air frosts compared with the usual twelve and autumn ended up being the third mildest since 1862, with a mean temperature of 1.4°C above the long-term average. Despite all the cloud autumn rainfall totals ended up close to the seasonal average.
