Community Resilience Group Weekly Briefing – 23 December 2021

This is the final weekly briefing of 2021 for local community resilience groups. Should there be any significant COVID-19 announcements during the festive break that may be relevant to yourselves, the Highland Council’s Corporate Communications team will provide you with updates. Concerns over the transmission rates of the new variant Omicron continue. The Scottish Government guidance on staying safe and protecting others has again been updated with a focus on staying safe over the festive period and everyone is urged to follow their advice. Please be extra cautious and follow government guidance in order to limit the spread of the virus.

The Highland Council free Coronavirus Helpline 0300 303 1362 will remain open over the festive period. Usual hours are Monday – Friday 9-5pm, it is available for emergency calls out with this time and this includes the Christmas period and bank holidays.

This week’s briefing is attached and contains information on:

  • The current numbers of COVID cases across Highland
  • Key points from the new Scottish Government Guidance on staying safe and protecting others
  • Details of asymptomatic and symptomatic testing, and vaccinations centres.
  • Where to find details of the Highland Council’s service arrangement over the festive period
  • Festive opening hours for the Scottish Welfare Fund.

Also attached is a copy of a recent newsletter from the Highland Mental Health Delivery Group which has a focus on suicide awareness.

Thank you for everything that you have continued to do for your communities during what has been another challenging year. We hope you manage a well-deserved break and wish you all a happy festive season and a peaceful New Year.
