2019 the wettest summer on record

It won’t come as a surprise to most people to learn that summer [JJA] 2019 was the wettest on record in Scotland. Records from the Met Office reveal that there was a total of 457.2 mm (18.0″), which is 158% of the long-term average for the months of June, July and August. This came in sharp contrast to last summer when only 259.7 mm of rain was recorded which is only 90% of the long-term average.
